Breezy is so glad to meet you!
Learn more about the origin of Breezy's name and our adventures on the road.
Surely the first thought that came into your head (ok, aside from where are the #VanLife hottie pictures?) is probably about the name of my van. Mike, you may be asking, how did you come up with such a great name for such a noble steed?
Well, I'd like to take credit for it but, alas, I cannot. Breezy was suggested by my dear friend Amanda and I was immediately taken by it. It really just seemed to fit her (the van, not Amanda).
My first impressions was that while she (again the van) was kind of a big, white beast of burden, but given their reputation, was sure to be loyal to me and do whatever is asked of her; even if it means her death. Having just recently completed reading (and watching the HBO series) Game Of Thrones, Brienne of Tarth jumped into my vision.
However, given that I have a brilliant niece named Bree (a marine biologist working to save the world) it seemed a little cruel to name it Bri (or Bree) and then have to explain to her that "no, sweetie, I didn't name my van after you, it really is after a big lummox of a character in a fictional world who is more of a beast than a beauty..."
Then the name Breezy came up...
Breezy Defined:
Merriam-Webster Dictionary
1) Swept by breezes
2 a) briskly informal
b) airy, nonchalant
I could still refer to her as Bree for short and given the definition of the word, it seemed like not only a good description of how I intended to use her (to drift about the world around me; allowing the winds and weather to decide where and when I go much as a leaf is flitted about by an ocean breeze) as well as a sort of mission statement: Why So Serious?
The name Breezy also pays homage to my new abode which I call Sea Flat. This beautiful little apartment (emphasis on little) by the sea in San Clemente has come into my life to teach me a number of lessons; ones that I hope Breezy will help reinforce:
- Minimalism
- Spontaneity -
- Embracing Outdoors
